Very effective but not irritating. I use this with a charcoal bar soap on my back in the shower every day and it just works so well. It exfoliates without irritating or scratching. It doesn't even leave any red marks, which is impressive. I am someone who is very serious about skin care and I even just re-ordered my second one of these because of how much I like it. A+
